Thais flock to Japan

Japan Times put this story on the front page yesterday.

Last year, a total of 657,570 Thai tourists visited Japan, a whopping 45% jump from the previous year, according to Japan National Tourism Organization.

A weak yen and relaxed visa restrictions contributed to the new wave of visitors from Thailand. There is a growing concern however that this trend may produce some negative reactions from the local people due to misbehavior on the part of certain noisy and rowdy tour group members.

"We complain about the behavior of certain Chinese tourists in Thailand. The same problem may be happening in Japan about Thai tourists here," said a seasoned Thai travel writer.
